I really don't have much to say about this. It's something that I've been working on a minuet or two here, an hour there, over the span of at least two weeks, maybe more. It's kind of my cure for art block. Whenever I have art block I like to spend a couple minuets on something that doesn't have a deadline (or in this case, something that doesn't make sense). Just long enough to snap me out of it and get me out of a rut.

And also, the words are a little random, they just seemed to be what fit there.

I've been keeping myself very busy lately, which is a good thing I think, but I'm beginning to get a bit burnt out. But only just a bit.

I don't know, I've just got a lot on my mind I suppose. I need to take a break from art for an hour or two and do.....some more art. I'm thankful that what I do for work is also what I do for fun. I'm also thankful that I can work in my pajamas.

Here is another image from one of the things I am working on. Sorry if it looks a little too dark.

Faces and Hands....

Faces and hands are by far the hardest things ever to paint. I have been tweaking their faces for ever and something is still bothering me about them, though I can't quite figure out what it is. Anyway, this is another small piece of the project I am working on.

Oh, and that big empty space up there is for a speech bubble.

You know, I wish that while I was in school I had learned how to compose more than one person in an image. I looked back at my portfolio and I realized that nearly everything I had painted had just one person in it. I had only done one or two paintings that had more than one person in it. Now that I am out of school I'm realizing that having the ability to compose multiple people is pretty much critically important.

I'm struggling a bit (as you can see with the above example) but the only way to learn something is to do it, I suppose.

Well, I'm not dead yet. That's good news.

This is a small part of a large project I am working on. It's pretty fun but also very challenging. Throughout this project I have discovered that I am terrible at designing interesting clothing. I will have to add that to my long list of things to get awesome at. Until then I shall dress everyone in vests and things of that nature.

After my BFA with all it's Ninja-esque adventure seriousness, I had an intense need to do something on the cuter side. Also, I am experimenting with lines again. This is ink line with digital color.

BFA Show

Well, it is done, the BFA show was a success! Last night was so awesome, I was so stressed out for the longest time about this show, I wanted everything to be perfect, and I think it turned out pretty ok! I was super pleased with it.

Here are the BYUI Illustrators! Well, most of them... And technically Brady over there on the left is a fine art printmaker dude, but he can count too. The other Illustrators are MIA right now for some reason. After Brady is myself, Allen, Kim, and Erika.

Here is a cheesy picture of me, I was in a strange mood last night, I think I was just so relieved to have it done. It was a lot of weight off my shoulders.

If you can see the little tags, you will notice that some of the names might be kind of strange. I named them like the night before the show, at a very early hour in the morning, so the names may change in the future. Oh well.

Thank you so much for taking a look at my show, and thanks so those who came to see it in person! Thanks for your love and support throughout this super long process. I could never finish this project without my friends, teachers, and family. I am so grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to come to school at BYU-Idaho and for giving me the blessing of being surrounded by people who support me and for the chance do what I love. I love making Art and I can't wait to do it forever!

I have finished! Above is a portion of the final painting, you will have to come to my show or find it elsewhere online to see the rest! It has been so fun, and I think I've progressed a lot working on this project.

For those of you who forgot, the BFA show is July 7th at 7 p.m. in the Spori Building of BYU-Idaho. I'm sad my project is over, but I'm excited to see what my next project is! I have a few ideas....

There are somethings I would change about some of the pieces in my show, but over all I am quite pleased with the result. I hope it all comes together in the end for a nice looking show.

I am pretty exhausted now. I feel like I still have a ton of work to do, but I only have to write an artist statement, a synopsis of the story, make some shelves and some paper lanterns, and then hang my show and make everything look immaculate. Also, I have a lot of Maya homework to do, so perhaps I'll get cracking on that soon. But for now I'm going to take a hot bath, drink some chamomile citrus herbal tea, and get some sleep.

Well, I'm nearly there. I finished the last painting I was working on, and now I have started another. Above is the rough sketch for it, I plan to have it done sometime on Saturday.

Below is the upper left corner of the painting. There will be more detail in the building when it's done.

It hit me this morning, as I was eating a healthy breakfast of Top Ramen; I'm graduating in less than fifty days. Soon I will be thrust into the outside world where I will either sink or swim. Or maybe float? It's pretty exciting, I suppose. But also very scary.

Anyway.

My senior art show is almost complete. There is a total of twenty or so paintings and I have three more to do until I'm out of here. Oh happy day!

Oh, for those of you who don't know, my show is July 7th at 7 p.m. in the Spori building on the BYU-Idaho campus.

After this is all over I will move to Arizona with Wayne and we will live happily ever after.

Well, about 6 hours ago I decided to actually to my homework for illustration class. This is what I came up with for the theme Happiness/Joy. In this first page the girl is really happy, but the dragon is disgruntled. Later on I'll have the dragon catch sight of a flock of seagulls and chase them, which makes him very happy, but makes the girl very scared. Hopefully I'll get around to painting the next pages and not leave ya'll hanging. This project is optional, so we'll see how far it goes.

So, on the top is the finished page, an below that is just the dragon by itself, which I thought was cool.

I am finally done with this semester. I'm exhausted! After I finished my last final, (astronomy!) I came home and collapsed. For about five minuets, and now I'm back to work.
